What happened
A transformer fire occurred at an Entergy substation in Amite, Louisiana, causing a major power outage affecting about 8,000 customers, mostly in Tangipahoa and St Helena parishes, with some residents in Livingston Parish also affected. The fire broke out on a Wednesday afternoon. Entergy crews responded and the fire was fully extinguished, after which crews assessed the damage and carried out repairs. Power was restored to affected customers by 7:30pm the same day. The outage only affected Entergy customers in the area; residents served by another utility, Demco, were not affected.
