What is in the files
One row per published entry, with these columns: reference, url, title, entry_type, asset_type, incident_category, severity, incident_year, incident_month, country, country_code, region, lifecycle_stage, part_named, what_happened, contributing_factors, lessons_learned, source_url, provisional, published_at. Dates are the month where the reporting gave one. part_named is filled for data centre entries only: the part the reporting itself names, never a guess. provisional is yes for an entry still waiting on a second source (the review process).
What is not in the files: the record behind an entry (site, operator, manufacturer, cause where it is established, downtime and modelled loss). That is for subscribers; one complete record is open to everyone. Confidential entries are anonymised in the files exactly as they are on the site.
How to use them
- Credit "Energy Incident Register, energyincidentregister.com" and keep the entry reference (for example EIR-0888) and the source column with the data. The terms, section 3, say the rest.
- To cite the dataset: Energy Incident Register (2026). Public entries, 2026-10-04. https://energyincidentregister.com/data/
- For a live feed instead of a file: the free API (50 entries a call) or email alerts.
- If a row is wrong, the correction is free, for anyone.
