Data licence

This licence covers the paid content: verified records, benchmarks, exports, reports and API data ("the Data"). The free register is covered by the terms of use instead.

1. What you get

1. Analyst plan. One named person may view and use the Data for that person's own work inside one organisation.
2. Team plan. Up to five named people in one organisation may view and use the Data, including CSV exports, for that organisation's internal work.
3. Enterprise licence. Use within the business unit or group named in the signed Enterprise agreement, API access, bulk delivery, and any product or redistribution rights are set out in that agreement, which takes priority over this page where they differ.

2. Permitted use

• Internal analysis, underwriting, lending, due diligence, procurement, risk assessment, engineering review and research.
• Quoting individual records or figures in internal documents, and in external documents (reports, planning submissions, presentations) with attribution to "Energy Incident Register" and the record reference.
• Combining the Data with your own data for internal models.

3. Not permitted

On every plan, unless a signed Enterprise agreement says otherwise for redistribution, products or bulk delivery. Sharing logins and building a competing database are never permitted.

• Sharing login details, or giving access to people not covered by the plan.
• Publishing, selling, sublicensing or redistributing the Data, in whole or in substantial part, including through a product, database, data feed or AI training set.
• Systematic downloading beyond the exports the plan provides.
• Using the Data to build a competing incident database or benchmark service.
• Removing attribution, verification status or source references from records you quote.

4. Verification and accuracy

Each record shows its verification status and its sources. The Data is provided as an information resource and is not a warranty of any fact. See the data accuracy disclaimer. Corrections follow the corrections process. Where a record is corrected, exports you hold are not updated automatically; download again.

5. Ownership

The register owns the database rights and the editorial work in the Data. Facts themselves are not owned by anyone. Public source documents belong to their publishers and are cited, not reproduced.

6. Ending the licence

The licence ends when your plan ends. Documents you created during the plan that quote the Data with attribution may be kept. Exports and bulk data must be deleted within 30 days of the plan ending, unless the Enterprise agreement says otherwise. We may end the licence at once if it is breached, and will say why.

7. Attribution format

In a report or a citation, use the form the "Cite this entry" button on every incident page produces: Energy Incident Register (2026). Title of the entry (EIR-0000). https://energyincidentregister.com/incident/eir-0000/ (accessed 13 September 2026).

In a table, a slide or a footnote, the short form is enough: Source: Energy Incident Register, EIR-0000.
