Kern County Fire confirmed that a wind turbine caught fire at about 2pm on Wednesday 30 October 2019 near Mojave, California. Fire officials said the turbine is on the west side of Highway 14 and that crews were working to extinguish the fire. Flames from the turbine fell onto grassland and started a vegetation fire, which Kern County Fire said had been contained. The cause of the turbine fire, the site operator and the extent of damage to the turbine were not reported. Injuries were not reported either way, and the report was published as a developing story.
