Unofficial reports say fires broke out overnight from Friday into Saturday at the 220 kV Kanash substation in Kanash and at the office of the energy supply company Alatyrskoye MO Chesk in Alatyr, in Russia's Chuvash Republic. Residents in Kanash were reported to have heard explosion sounds before the fire. The cause, the scale of damage and any effect on supply have not been stated, and no official confirmation has been reported.
