Battery storage fire at a solar installation in Reichenbach, OT Mylau

On 25 September 2026 at 13:10, police reported a fire in the battery storage of a solar installation at a food factory on Robert-Georgi-Weg in Reichenbach, OT Mylau. Police said a technical defect was the presumed cause. Fire services from Reichenbach and Obermylau put the fire out. The Vogtlandkreis hazardous materials unit and a criminal police fire-cause investigator also attended. The installation was badly damaged and production was significantly disrupted. The S 299 between Netzschkauer Straße and Obermylauer Straße stayed fully closed for four hours until the operation ended at about 17:15. Total damage had not been quantified.
Police said a technical defect was presumed to have started the fire. The cause had not been confirmed, and no further technical detail was reported.
