On 10 June 2026, a fire affected a photovoltaic inverter at a solar park beside the LR-285 road, near kilometre 2, in the municipality of Alfaro, La Rioja, Spain. The alarm was raised by a member of the public shortly after 11:00 to the regional emergency coordination centre, which mobilised CEIS firefighters and alerted the Guardia Civil. According to first reports, the damage was limited to the inverter and no one was injured. The source does not state the cause of the fire, the extent of any damage beyond the inverter, or when the park returned to service.

  1. Inverter cabinets should be inspected for overheating and electrical faults as part of routine maintenance, because a single inverter fire can bring emergency services to a site.
  2. Operators should give fire and emergency services current site access routes and plans so that a response is quick.
  3. Monitoring and thermal inspection can detect inverter faults early and limit damage to a single unit.
