Vegetation fire extinguished at Jarafuel solar plant

What happened

On the afternoon of 27 September 2026, the Consorcio Provincial de Bomberos de València extinguished a scrub fire at a photovoltaic plant in Jarafuel, in the Casa Mojón area. The alarm was received at 16.36. The consortium said the fire started in a field of photovoltaic panels, affected only low vegetation, and did not damage the installation. It was stabilised and extinguished the same afternoon. Resources included an officer, a sergeant from Requena, two appliances from Requena, three volunteer appliances from Ayora and Cofrentes, a BRIFO unit and forest firefighters from the Generalitat.

Contributing factors

The cause was not reported. The consortium said the fire began in the panel field and was limited to low scrub.

Lessons learned

1. A fire can start inside a photovoltaic field and still leave the installation undamaged, so crews should treat the site as an electrical asset even when only vegetation is burning.
2. Calling local appliances and forest units together can stabilise a scrub fire on a solar site the same day.
3. Low vegetation inside a panel field is itself a fuel load, whether or not equipment is later found to be damaged.
