All five sustained burns and were taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Two later died from their injuries.

Not reported.

  1. A failed overhead transformer can fall onto nearby occupied roofs, so clearance and secure mounting matter where lines pass buildings.
  2. Electrical burns can worsen after admission, so early transfer to specialist burn care should be planned.
  3. Sites near occupied buildings should review how a transformer failure would be contained and how people nearby would be warned and rescued.
