Fire reported at an electrical substation in Bletchley

July 2025Published 2 Oct 2026

Companies named in this entry: National Grid

In the early hours of 28 July 2025, firefighters were called to a blaze reported at an electrical substation in Bletchley, Milton Keynes. The same report also describes a fire that broke out at 12.50am in a two-storey disused warehouse, measuring about ten metres by twenty metres, on Denbigh Road in Bletchley. It does not say whether these were the same incident. Two crews were reported to have tackled a blaze within the substation, involving an 11,000 volt unit described as a ringman unit and a high-voltage transformer, using one main jet. National Grid isolated the supply and Thames Valley Police attended. Injuries, the cause and the extent of damage were not reported.

  1. Network operators should be able to isolate high-voltage equipment promptly when firefighters attend a substation.
  2. Fire services, the network operator and police need a clear way to coordinate at the scene.
  3. Early local reports should be treated as incomplete until the location, equipment involved and outcome are confirmed.
