Fire at Dhaka substation near FDC intersection cuts power for hours

A fire broke out at an electrical substation near the FDC intersection in the Tejgaon area of Dhaka at around 1:30 pm on a Saturday. The blaze occurred behind the Uttara Center building and caused extensive power outages across large parts of the capital, including the Moghbazar, New Eskaton and Banglamotor neighbourhoods. Three fire units from the Tejgaon station of the Fire Service and Civil Defence responded and worked to contain the fire and prevent it spreading to nearby structures. Residents reported outages lasting more than six hours. Utility officials mobilised emergency maintenance teams to isolate the damaged equipment and restore power to affected areas in stages.
