Substation equipment fire cuts power to thousands in Springfield, Oregon
EIR-1046A fire broke out at about 5am in a small equipment facility at a Springfield Utility Board substation near the intersection of 17th and South A streets in Springfield, Oregon. The facility housed breakers, relays and cable terminations. Responders de-energised the substation while dealing with the fire. About 3,600 people lost power for several hours. The Eugene Springfield Fire Department reported that the fire took roughly half an hour to extinguish. No one was injured.
