Substation fire on Fadem Road disrupts power and traffic in Springfield

What happened

Local reporting said a substation fire on Fadem Road in Springfield knocked out power for residents and commuters. Springfield police said the fire was on Fadem Road and asked people not to call 911 to report outages. As of 9:27 a.m., a power failure on Route 22 westbound, east of Springfield Avenue, had closed all lanes, according to 511nj.com. A JCP&L spokesperson said crews were making emergency repairs and expected most customers to have power back within half an hour, with the rest restored by noon.
