On 23 September 2026, a utility pole fell for an unknown reason and a transformer fire was reported near 16 Cochituate Road (Route 30) in Framingham. Oil spilled from the transformer on the pole and ignited. Police said a stretch of Cochituate Road between Beacon Street and Worcester Road (Route 9) was closed. Eversource was on scene by 2.15 p.m. to repair the damaged transformer and had re-routed supply so that only a small section of customers was affected. The utility reported 518 customers in Framingham without power at that time, and estimated restoration by 5 p.m. It was not reported whether supply was restored by then.
