How often do wind turbines catch fire?

118 of the 343 wind entries on the register are fires, 33 of them dated 2026; the rest are blade failures, collapses and electrical faults.

Counted from the register's published entries on 2026-11-03. Every entry is written from published news and trade reporting and lists its sources. Onshore wind entries.

Read the count as a count of what is recorded. The register is new and has been filling in an archive, so a rise across years is a measure of the register, not of the world, and a country with open reporting appears more often than one without. The methodology says how entries are found, written and checked.
