A transformer fire at Ross Park Mall filled several stores with smoke on a Tuesday evening, according to a CBS News video page dated 25 December 2024. The page says a worker described the scene, but it names no person. It does not give the cause, the owner or operator of the transformer, how many stores were affected, whether anyone was hurt or evacuated, or how long any disruption lasted.

Not reported.

  1. Sites with transformers near occupied retail space should have smoke detection and a way to limit smoke spread into shops.
  2. Operators should be able to isolate a failed transformer quickly and tell tenants what is known and what is not.
  3. A short public report of a transformer fire should be checked with the fire service or the asset operator before cause or impact is treated as established.
