What happened
A fire broke out at the Alamathy Tangedco substation at Vanianchathiram between Tamaraipakkam and Red Hills on the outskirts of Chennai on Saturday morning. Power supply was disrupted in the locality. The master control room received a call about the fire around 6.45am and vehicles from Manali, Red Hills, Madhavaram and Avadi were deployed. Fifty firefighters used foam and water to bring the fire under control after 12 hours. The exact cause of the fire has not been ascertained.
