A report says firefighters contained a transformer fire at a Georgia Power high-voltage substation in Norcross, Georgia, early on 22 September 2026. Crews were called at 12:58 a.m., found intense heat and a large fire inside the substation perimeter, and brought the fire under control by 6:32 a.m. A protective area was set up while Georgia Power personnel managed electrical hazards. A hazardous materials team and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division monitored the area for possible environmental exposure. No injuries were reported.
