Fire at Girga substation cuts power to four centres in Sohag

A fire broke out in one electrical cell at the transformer station serving Beit Dawood village in the Girga centre of Sohag governorate. Civil defence forces attended with two fire engines, contained the fire and cooled the site before it spread to other parts of the station. A preliminary inspection found that a main electrical cell had burned completely and was taken out of service, cutting supply to four centres: Girga, Balyana, El Mansha and Dar El Salam. No injuries or fatalities were reported. The cause had not been established.
The cause was not reported. A technical committee was ordered to investigate.
