In June 2018, a solar system installed by SolarCity on an Amazon warehouse in Redlands, California, caught fire, according to a statement Amazon gave to Bloomberg and later reported by Roofing Contractor. Amazon said it would take steps to protect other facilities and had no plans to install further Tesla solar systems. A Tesla representative described the fire as an isolated event. The same report said Walmart had filed a lawsuit claiming Tesla solar panels caused fires at seven store locations dating back to 2012, the most recent in 2018. Those claims are allegations and are not independently confirmed here. Damage, injuries and the cause of the Redlands fire were not reported.
