Vestas blade fails at Timber Road IV wind farm in Ohio
EIR-0805A blade on a Vestas V150 4.2MW turbine at the Timber Road IV wind farm in Ohio suffered heavy damage in a failure on 3 September 2020. No one was injured. Vestas and EDP Renewables secured the site and conducted a site wide inspection of blades on the other 30 turbines at the wind farm, finding no additional damage or indication of other failures. The companies stated they could not speculate on the cause and were conducting a root cause analysis. The damaged blade will be replaced at a date to be determined, after which the turbine will return to full service. EDP Renewables said it was working with the Ohio Power Siting Board and local law enforcement on public safety response efforts.
