Two people killed in transformer explosion in Bengaluru

A transformer exploded in the Ullal area of Bengaluru. Two people on a motorcycle were covered in oil from the transformer and suffered fatal burn injuries. The blast occurred as the motorcycle slowed to cross a road bump. The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) had received earlier complaints from locals about oil leakage from the transformer.

Prior complaints about oil leakage from the transformer had been made to BESCOM but were not addressed.

  2. Maintain regular inspections of transformers in residential areas.
  3. Ensure rapid isolation of faulty equipment when defects are reported.
