Fuel line burst sparks fire at San Antonio data centre

Oct 2024Published 2 Oct 2026

A fire occurred at a data centre on the West Side of San Antonio, Texas, near Potranco and Ingram Road. The incident began around 2 p.m. when a fuel line split during diesel refuelling of generators. Fuel contacted hot exhaust components and ignited. The fire spread rapidly, damaging generator tanks and a trailer. One person inhaled smoke and was evaluated by emergency services. The facility was evacuated as a precaution. No further injuries were reported. Hazmat teams attended to clean spilled fuel.

Fuel line failure during active refuelling released diesel onto hot exhaust surfaces.

  1. Inspect fuel lines and connections before starting generator refuelling.
  2. Maintain clear separation between fuel transfer points and hot exhaust components.
  3. Ensure immediate shutdown capability and spill containment are available during fuel handling operations.
