Sept 2026Published 1 Oct 2026
What happened
On a Tuesday afternoon, firefighters from Cuartel VIII in Río Seco attended a grass fire in the vicinity of the solar park at kilometre 875 on Ruta Nacional 9. Using a high-pressure hose line and hand tools, crews put the fire out. It affected about one hectare of low weeds and part of the wiring for the solar panel circuit. The cause, any effect on generation, and whether the panels themselves were harmed were not reported.
Lessons learned
- A grass fire beside a solar park can reach array cabling even when the burned area is small.
- Remote solar sites need a clear way in for local fire crews and a known method to isolate circuits.
- After a vegetation fire, affected cabling should be inspected before equipment is returned to service.
