Fire in incoming machine at Husainpur Tarai substation cuts power to 24 villages
Sept 2026Published 1 Oct 2026
What happened
On Wednesday morning a fire was reported in the incoming machine of the Chilsara feeder at the Husainpur Tarai electricity substation. Power to 24 villages was reported to have stayed off through the day. Electricity staff reached the site, called a mechanic and began repairs. The report said supply would be restored soon; it did not confirm that supply had returned.
Contributing factors
Staff told the reporter that a rat entering the incoming machine caused a fault and the fire. That account has not been confirmed by a second source.
Lessons learned
- Keep animal barriers and housekeeping in place so rodents cannot enter live equipment.
- Treat a single on-site account of the cause as provisional until the failed equipment is inspected.
- Plan how a feeder can be restored quickly when one incoming machine is out of service, so a local fault does not leave many villages without power for a full day.
