What happened
About 1,210 Duke Energy customers in Franklin County lost power after a transformer fire on Tarboro Road just outside Youngsville, North Carolina. Duke Energy reported that the outage began at about 11:14 p.m. on 9 February 2026 and cited an equipment failure. The Youngsville Fire Department said crews responded around midnight, and that nearly 2,500 customers in the greater Youngsville area were without electricity at one point. Power was fully restored just after 5 a.m. on 10 February. Injuries and damage beyond the outage were not reported.
