Lessons learned
- Vegetation management near overhead lines and pole-mounted transformers reduces the risk of tree-strike faults that can start fires and cause outages.
- Transformers and connected conductors should be inspected for heat or damage after tree or storm events, even when a fire has been extinguished.
- Utilities should publish outage figures promptly so that emergency responders and residents have accurate information during faults.
