Smoking electrical substation draws firefighters to Cowes

On the morning of 18 June 2018, firefighters were called to an electrical substation in Cowes after reports of smoke. Two fire engines attended on York Street and the road was closed while they investigated. A fire and rescue service spokesperson said the smoke was caused by oil in a transformer, and that the incident had been handed over to Scottish and Southern Energy. The report does not say whether there was a fire, an outage, injuries or equipment damage.
The only cause given is oil in a transformer. No further cause is reported.
