What happened

On a Sunday evening at about 8pm, a short circuit in the cable of an electricity transformer near the old hospital in Marhara, Etah, started a fire. Supply was cut to Mohalla Kazi, part of Mohalla Chobdar, Mohalla Gafurganj and part of Mohalla Sheeshgiran, and stayed off through the night. Residents were reported sitting outside or walking in the streets because of the heat. Electricity staff reached the site during the night to attempt repairs but did not restore supply then.

The next morning, residents reported difficulty getting water for drinking and bathing. A sub-divisional officer said a team was repairing the fault and that supply would be restored soon.
