Transformer fire cuts power overnight in Marhara, Uttar Pradesh

On a Sunday evening at about 8 pm, a short circuit in the cable of an electricity transformer near the old hospital in Marhara, Uttar Pradesh, India, started a fire. Supply was cut to Mohalla Qazi, to part of Mohalla Chobdar, to Mohalla Gafurganj and to part of Mohalla Sheeshgiran. Residents were without electricity through the night and were troubled by the heat. Electricity staff reached the site that night but did not restore supply. By morning, residents also had difficulty with drinking water and washing. The report does not say when supply returned, or whether anyone was hurt.
The fire is attributed to a short circuit in the transformer cable. No other cause is reported.
