A fire was reported in a wind turbine in Bjälbo, outside Mjölby. The alarm was received at 11:20. The rescue service in eastern Götaland said several callers could see fire at the top of the turbine, about 50 metres up in the machine room. Crews kept a safety distance in case parts fell, and said they would put out any fire that started on the ground. They did not expect to fight the fire with water at that height, and said it would probably have to burn out. At 11:49 the rescue service reported that the rotor blades had come off and fallen. A 100 metre risk distance was set and Road 947 was closed. This account does not report the cause, any injuries, or whether the fire later went out.
No cause was reported. The fire was too high for the rescue service to expect to fight it directly with water, so the response focused on distance and stopping any spread on the ground.
