What happened
A transformer fire was reported at Pipeline-Salam Junction, Koforidua, on 6 October 2026. The Ghana National Fire Service received the call at 18:46 and a crew arrived at 19:04. Electricity was disconnected before firefighting. The fire was brought under control at 19:26 and extinguished at 19:31. Damage was limited to partial burning of the pole and a cut-out fuse.
Contributing factors
The fire service attributed the fire, on a preliminary basis, to an electrical fault. No confirmed cause has been reported.
