A limited fire broke out inside an electricity transformer cabin on Winget Street in the Al Raml area of Alexandria. Firefighters from civil protection extinguished the fire after electricity supply was disconnected. No injuries occurred. A security cordon was established around the site.

Initial examination and witness statements indicated the fire resulted from a spark in an electricity cable inside the transformer, damaging parts of it.

  1. Rapid disconnection of power supply limits fire spread at transformer sites.
  2. Establishing security cordons protects the public during grid asset incidents.
  3. Prompt cooling of affected areas prevents extension to adjacent equipment.
