What happened
A fire broke out overnight at a construction site in the Tiergarten district of Berlin, Germany, and spread to a nearby electricity substation. Approximately 50 firefighters responded to bring the blaze under control. Police cordoned off a wide area while investigators examined whether the fire was started deliberately or resulted from a technical fault. The incident occurred against a backdrop of a wider security operation, with authorities separately investigating a suspected break-in at the RWE-operated Niederrhein substation in Wesel, North Rhine-Westphalia, where a hole had been cut in the perimeter fence.
