Apr 2025Published 2 Oct 2026

Police were called to Taransay Street in Govan, Glasgow, at about 10.30pm on 30 April 2025 after reports that a fire had spread to an electrical substation. The fire was later extinguished. Police said enquiries into the circumstances were ongoing.

Not reported. Police said enquiries into how the fire started and how it reached the substation were ongoing.

  1. A fire that reaches a substation can cut local supply even when the cause is not yet known.
  2. Network companies should be ready to restore supply and say clearly what is and is not confirmed while an enquiry continues.
  3. Early coordination with the fire service and police helps confirm the site is safe before supply is restored.
