Fire at Napier Drive substation Govan destroys distribution box

On 26 June 2017 a fire at Napier Drive substation, Govan destroyed a distribution box at about 6.30pm. Scottish Fire and Rescue was called to extinguish the flames, and ScottishPower engineers were then called to fix the problem. Hundreds of residents were affected, and some homes were without power for up to six hours. Police later said a teenager had been arrested for alleged vandalism at the substation, and a report was sent to the procurator fiscal. The cause has not been established in the reporting.
