Lessons learned
- A substation fire can cut supply across a postcode area with little warning, so control rooms should be ready to try remote restoration and to send engineers.
- Location reports can differ between the fire service and the police, so operators should confirm the exact site before crews enter.
- Even where no injuries are reported, the public should be kept clear of smoke until the fire is out and restoration is confirmed.
