Aug 2025Published 1 Oct 2026

Companies named in this entry: Western Power

One crew from Shropshire Fire and Rescue was mobilised from Telford Central fire station at around 18:44 on 7 August 2025 after a call reporting a fire at an electricity substation on Hinkshay Road, Telford. Personnel from Western Power were at the scene. The crew assisted Western Power with its investigation. A stop message was issued at 19:41 and the fire service left the scene. The extent of damage and any effect on supply were not reported.

Not reported.

  1. Treat a reported substation fire as a live electrical incident and keep the network company involved before crews close in.
  2. A stop message shows only that the fire service stood down; operators should still record damage, cause and any supply effect.
  3. Keep a joint record of the fire service and network investigation so the initial call classification is not the only account.
