What happened
Fire broke out at the 220-kV grid sub-station at Singhawala village in Moga district operated by Punjab State Power. The blaze and smoke were visible from a distance and caused panic in surrounding areas. Fire tenders from various places attended and extinguished the fire after considerable effort. Power supply to villages attached to the substation was interrupted. A 20 MW transformer was burnt. No loss of life was reported.
