What happened
Between June and August the south-west monsoon damaged the electricity distribution network operated by MESCOM in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Strong winds and heavy rain brought down 5,077 electricity poles and 24 transformers. Overall infrastructure damage is estimated to run into crores of rupees.
