Fire destroys solar panels at ACME plant in Barmer

What happened
A fire broke out at the under-construction ACME solar plant in Shiv Arang village, Barmer district. It started in a truck carrying cartons of material for the plant and spread to the solar installation. Strong winds caused rapid spread across the site. The truck driver moved the vehicle away from the premises. The fire brigade took about one and a half hours to bring the blaze under control. A large number of solar panels were destroyed, resulting in losses of lakhs of rupees.
Contributing factors
Fire started while material sealed in paper cartons was being loaded into a truck. Strong winds spread the fire from the truck to the plant.
