Fire at Mooikloof substation leaves residents without power

A fire damaged the Mooikloof substation, east of Pretoria, at the Mooikloof Estate. The City of Tshwane said power was interrupted and that technicians cleaned the site and replaced all 26 damaged panels. Heavy and consistent rain interrupted and delayed the repairs. The City said electricity supply had been restored to more than 1,500 residences and businesses, while further roofing and electrical installation work was still being described. Traffic lights at the Solomon Mahlangu Drive and Atterbury Road intersection were also affected. The cause of the fire was not reported.
