Turbine fire shuts down Midtfjellet wind farm in Norway

A Nordex Gamma generation wind turbine caught fire at the 110MW Midtfjellet wind farm in mid-west Norway on 31 October 2015. The fire caused no injuries but triggered a shutdown of the entire plant, which consists of 44 turbines of the N90 and N100 types. Nordex, the turbine manufacturer, confirmed the incident and said the wind farm would remain shut down until an inspection could be carried out to ensure the site was safe to resume operation. Nordex stated it was investigating the cause of the fire.
