Nordex turbine collapses at German wind farm, no injuries reported

On 27 October 2025, the upper tower segment of a Nordex N149/4.X wind turbine, including the nacelle, hub and rotor blades, fell to the ground at the Herkentrup wind farm in Coesfeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Nordex said the damage was discovered in the morning and that all necessary safety measures were implemented immediately after the incident. The manufacturer said material damage was sustained and that no-one was injured. The wind farm has a capacity of 13.5MW and comprises three N149/4.X turbines with 125-metre towers, installed in 2023, and is owned and operated by Windpark Herkentrup GmbH & Co. KG. Nordex said a team of experts, working closely with the customer, had begun investigating the cause, and that no statement could yet be made on the underlying cause.
