How it works

Public reporting in. Sourced records out.

Found

News, fire services, regulators, courts and operators, searched every day in many languages.

Written

Each incident is written up in the same fields every time, from its sources and nothing else.

Checked

A separate review against the same sources before anything is published, and rechecks as new reports appear.

Sent

Alerts the day an incident is confirmed. Every entry keeps its sources, so you can check it yourself.

The register's own rule: every entry cites its sources, and a correction is free for anyone. How entries are made.

Energy sites

Every site, with its safety record.

A page for each of 91,432 battery storage, solar and wind sites in 208 countries, from open government and research data. Each page shows the site's status, size and dates, any incident on the register that names it, and the incidents at sites like it.

Questions

Straight answers.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. Every entry is free to read, one question to Ask the register is free, and the week pass opens every record and benchmark for 7 days for a one-off £7.99, no subscription. Analyst is a month at a time and you can cancel at any time.

Is the register really free?

Yes. The register, the insights, the statistics and the email alerts are free and will stay free. The paid plan adds the structured record behind each entry.

Where does the data come from?

Public sources only: fire service reports, regulator filings, court records, operator statements and the press. Every entry links its sources. See the methodology and the accuracy disclaimer.

Does naming a site or supplier mean they were at fault?

No. An entry records public facts about an incident. It is not a judgement of fault, quality or liability, and the register does not investigate or assign blame.

Can I report an incident in confidence?

Yes. Your details are never published, and an incident given in confidence is anonymised absolutely. Submit an incident.

Who runs the register?

It is independently run and self-funded. Editorial decisions are not influenced by any operator, vendor or service provider. About the register.
