2023Published 2 Oct 2026

An electrical substation was reported to have exploded near the intersection of Crutcher Blvd and North Rhea Street in Morganfield, Union County, Kentucky. The source says 10 agencies responded, including Morganfield Fire, KSP and Kentucky Utilities, and that crews stayed out until 3:30 a.m. restoring services to nearby homes. No injuries were reported. The cause, the extent of damage and whether supply was fully restored were not reported.

Not reported.

  1. A substation explosion can require a multi-agency response and interrupt supply to nearby homes even when no injuries are reported.
  2. Operators should plan for overnight restoration and should confirm when supply is back.
  3. Early reports often omit cause and damage; those facts should be checked before any wider conclusion.
