One Energy wind turbine loses blade near Findlay

Jan 2024Published 1 Oct 2026

On 22 January 2024, just before noon, a blade on a wind turbine in Allen Township near Findlay, Ohio, fell to the ground. One Energy said the turbine belongs to the company and that the blade fell at 11:55 a.m., directly below the turbine, with no further damage and no injuries. Company personnel were on the site within minutes to inspect the site and the turbine. Officials said one blade is about 140 feet long. The company said all wind turbines it owns had been shut down while an investigation was under way. The cause had not been reported.

  1. Operators should be able to inspect a turbine promptly after a blade detachment.
  2. Shutting down similar machines while the cause is unknown can limit further risk.
  3. Public updates during an investigation help nearby residents understand what is known and what is not.
