What happened
Fire and rescue crews attended a two-storey domestic property in The Charltons on 23 March 2026 after a call reporting smoke from the roof. On arrival the roof was well alight with one solar panel involved. The property measured 20 m by 10 m and was of stone and slate construction. Crews extinguished the fire using breathing apparatus, hose reel jets, a safety jet, thermal imaging cameras, ladders and an aerial ladder platform. The service reported 25 per cent fire damage to the roof void. It did not state how the fire started.
