What happened
Around 2,600 Nova Scotia Power customers near Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, lost power after a power line caught fire on Sunday morning. Fire crews called at 8:48 a.m. put out a small fire on a downed line on the front lawn of a house on Sea King Drive. Nova Scotia Power crews attended and turned off the power. The outage was restored around 2 p.m., earlier than the utility's 3 p.m. estimate. Mic Mac Mall closed because of the outage and later announced it would open at 2:30 p.m.
Contributing factors
Nova Scotia Power said the repair was made more challenging by the makeup of the power pole. No other cause is reported.
