On 12 June 2018, a sudden power outage had been caused by a fire at a substation in the Kagiso area. Eskom had lost a busbar, affecting supply in the area. The team was investigating and would work to restore supply. The report said power had already returned in some areas that afternoon. The substation was not named, and the cause and the full extent of the outage were not reported.
The cause of the fire was not reported. It was said only that Eskom had lost a busbar and that the matter was under investigation.
