A wind turbine at the Locust Ridge Wind Farm near Mahanoy City was reported on fire on a Saturday morning in early March 2021, with the fire starting at about 8.30am. Smoke and flames billowed from the turbine and were reported to be visible for miles. Mahanoy City firefighters were called to the scene. Local reporting says the burning turbine stood next to another turbine that had caught fire on 28 December. The cause, any injuries and the extent of damage to the turbine were not reported, and the exact date of the fire is unclear from the single short report available.
